Book Review: The Rise Of Christianity is a fascinating essay and historical overview of Ancient Rome that debunks a lot of my believes about that time. Somehow, in high school (where I come from at least) we are taught that Ancient Greece and Rome were advanced societies, and then they collapsed and the Middle Ages were instead just barbaric. This essay however paints a very different picture.

It also brings up a really interesting question, and while the book does claim to answer it, the reviewer is skeptical: how exactly did Christianity become so widespread? To me, there seems to be something about teaching about love in a world as cruel and dark as those times must have been.
