I’ve really enjoyed the video Is Our World Broken? from Kurzgesagt. We indeed live in times where the general consensus appears to be that we as a society and as a species are doomed: the world just seems too hard and too bad, and we as individuals are all bombarded with all of this negativity every day while having little to no agency to address any of it.

Kurzgesagt points out that humanity is driven by narratives: stories we tell ourselves about ourselves. So we should change the narrative, and then we can change the world. It’s a positive outlook that doesn’t try to downplay or walk past all the issues we face today. But it tries to be forgiving, empathetic, and optimistic. We are doing the best we can, but we can do better than this.
